As I announced last weekend, in light of the recent news, the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Sienna in Allentown is in need of an assistant pastor.  Fr. Brendon has been chosen to be assigned to the Cathedral Parish and also part time as Chaplain of Muhlenberg College.  He is starting his ministry at Muhlenberg College immediately and at the Cathedral on Tuesday, September 11th.  This is a big change for us.

Fr. Brendon’s last weekend at Holy Infancy will be September 9th so we will have a social after all Masses that weekend in Msgr. Butler Hall to thank Fr. Brendon for his wonderful 3 years of service with us.  It is sad to see Fr. Brendon leave us but we are grateful for his faithful priestly ministry to our parish and school family and promise him our prayers and support.

We will not have another assistant pastor assigned to Holy Infancy Parish to replace Fr. Brendon.  Rather, Fr. Keith Mathur, a fine priest, whom I know well for years, will live here as a Resident Priest.  A Resident Priest means he lives here but works full time in the Diocesan Chancery and Liturgy Office.  Fr. Mathur will be able to help at Sunday Masses and some weekday Masses when he is able and is capable of celebrating Mass in Spanish.  He will begin on September 23rd.

This change will also affect our weekday Mass Schedule, reducing it to only one Mass per day.  This is another big change.  Next week’s bulletin will have our new weekday Mass Schedule which will begin on September 10thThe weekend Mass schedule will remain the same.

For those already scheduled intentions for Masses that will be canceled, we can either combine Mass intentions to the one mass per day if all parties are in agreement, or we can give your money offering back to you and remove the intention.

The 2019 Mass book will open on October 1st.  Since we will have a reduced Mass schedule, there will be new limitations for obtaining Mass intentions for the year.  A meeting and discussion about Mass intentions and the new limitations will be held for anyone interested here in Msgr. Butler Hall on Thursday, September 6th at 6:30 PM

This is a lot all at once, but with our focus always back on Jesus, we will receive his blessings even in this transition.
