Last Sunday, November 1, at 4:00 PM, during the celebration of Solemn Evening Prayer at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena, Carlos Fernández, along with the 19 other men studying for the Diaconate, officially stated their desire and were received as Candidates by Bishop Alfred A. Schlert. Although they have been in this process for over a year and a half, Candidacy is an official canonical step that has to take place before ordination. They will also eventually receive the office of Lector and Acolyte before the 6 year process is complete. Please continue to pray for Carlos, his wife Yaniris and their family, as well as all the other men who are in this process of formation. Also pray that more vocations to the Diaconate, Priesthood, Religious Life and Holy Marriages will grow within our parish family!
Praying for the Souls of the Faithfully Departed
In the front of Church, we have the Book of Remembrance where you can write the names of the souls of your loved ones who have recently deceased, or you want to be remembered in a special way. We also are placing on the Altar the All Souls Envelopes with the names you have inscribed to be close to the Holy Sacrifice during this Month of November.
This time during November is a wonderful time to visit the Cemeteries where your loved ones are buried and to pray the Rosary for your loved ones and all those who have no one to pray for them in Purgatory. It is also a good time to think about preparing for our own passing. I highly encourage everyone to prepare your funeral arrangements with a funeral home of your choosing before you get sick or get too old. This is a great act of love for your family members and also a reassurance that what you desire to take place at your funeral will be done.
