What we remember—and honor—on Memorial Day is heroic sacrifice. We acknowledge those who nobly gave of themselves, even unto death, for a purpose they believed was greater than themselves. Since the days just following the end of the Civil War, Americans have gathered in late May to honor those who died in military service to their country. In the spirit of the day, we can also recall, honor, and pray for all those we know who have lived lives of service and sacrifice for the good of others.
We will have a 9:00 AM Mass at Incarnation Church Memorial Day. Afterwards, we will pray the Rosary the St. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery and at St. Michael Cemetery. That way both cemeteries are visited on this important day. If it is raining, the Rosary will be prayed in church for both cemeteries.
Fr. Andy’s away helping at Seminarian retreat May 29th– June 5th
Every year in the beginning of June, I am blessed to help seminarians in their 8-Day Silent Retreat as a Spiritual Director. It takes place at Creighton University in Omaha, NE and is part of the program from the Institute for Priestly Formation. This institute has helped me greatly in my own priesthood and it is helping seminarians and priests grow in their relationship, identity and mission in the priesthood to strive to serve their people better by first serving God better in their interior lives. Please pray for the over 100 seminarians that will attend from across the USA and for their directors during this retreat.
