The Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph is normally celebrated on the Sunday after Christmas. This feast developed at the beginning of the 19th century in Canada and then spread to the entire Church in 1920. At first, it was celebrated on the Sunday after Epiphany. It is a Feast that seeks to portray the Holy Family of Nazareth as the “true model of life” (cf. Opening Prayer) from which our families can draw inspiration and know where to find help and comfort.

On the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, the Diocese of Allentown will join Dioceses around the world in commencing the Jubilee Year of Hope. A Jubilee Year is a special time in the Church’s tradition encouraging holiness through acts of reconciliation and communion. The Church celebrates an Ordinary Jubilee every twenty-five years. Jubilee Year 2025 will be marked by special opportunities for grace through the Sacrament of Penance, pilgrimages, and prayer.

Church Interior Painting

Next Sunday, January 5th, those who are able to help us move the liturgical items to Msgr. Butler Hall are asked to come at 1:00 PM, after the 12 noon Mass. During that week we will begin celebrating Mass in Msgr. Butler Hall and begin the interior painting project of the church. St. Jude Liturgical Studios, who has painted or done renovation work on many churches in our area, are well experienced artisans! All the priests in those parishes, have spoken highly of their workmanship! We look forward to this part of the project! Go to their website and see all the wonderful restoration work they have done!
